“For many years now, Portland Radon Testing has been the go-to people of many homeowners for their Residential Radon Testing needs.”
Residential Radon Testing
With the pandemic around, we spend most of our time indoors. It surely keeps us safe from the virus, but not totally safe from Radon. It is a naturally-occurring radioactive gas that is undetectable by human senses and according to studies, can be fatal in the long run. With Oregon’s average Radon level of 3.1 pCi/L, there is no room for us to be complacent. It is high time for us to avoid not just the virus, but even the hazardous gas. With you and your family’s health at risk, you cannot just predict your home’s radon level based on state or local radon measurements. Much more on test results taken in other homes in your neighborhood. Testing is the only way to find out what your home’s radon level is. The same goes when you are looking into buying or selling a house, which necessitates a Portland radon testing. Fret not! We got you covered. You see, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides two distinct protocols for radon measurement in residential homes: real estate and non-real estate. Not sure of what you need? Radon Testing Portland can help you identify what specific service is needed. Plus, we are capable of conducting both real estate and non-real estate radon measurement procedures following the appropriate protocol for the situation.
- When dealing with real estate measurements, we use continuous radon monitors and can conduct a test in as little as 48 hours. This is ideal for real estate transactions because we can deliver results immediately upon completion of the testing period. There is no need to send samples to a laboratory and wait for analytical results. No worries though. You can rely on the results, as we strictly follow the EPA short term measurement protocols when conducting a typical real estate 48-hour measurement. As long as closed house conditions are maintained throughout the testing procedure, accurate results are possible. At the completion of the 48-hour measurement period, we will pick-up the monitoring device. The data will be interpreted and a report will be generated for our client. If the average radon level during a real estate testing period is at or above 4.0 pCi/L we will recommend the installation of a radon mitigation Portland system which we will put into details in our Residential Radon Mitigation service page.
- With regard to the non-real estate transaction radon testing, the EPA has specified several options. When the time constraints of a real estate transaction don’t exist, the testing period can be extended out to as much as one year. Typically, we will recommend an initial short-term measurement lasting anywhere from 48 hours to 90 days. Once results are received, we will recommend a follow-up testing if necessary, or mitigation if needed. Depending on the results, you can trust our experienced team of professionals to do the appropriate action with top-quality results.
